Social Support Facilitation is funded by the San Diego Regional Center to promote and encourage access to social and recreational opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Many individuals and their families struggle with locating community resources and recreational opportunities outside of school, work, or program. Social Support Facilitation provides a Community Support Coordinator to work on an individualized plan, focusing on the consumer's interests and taking into consideration any existing barriers. The plan is based on needs and desires expressed by the individual and/or their family.

The end result is a personalized resource list highlighting resources, recreational opportunities, and community participation options which specifically fit the individual's needs. CIS staff members work diligently to locate any resources which will promote a better quality of life and increase access to social and recreational opportunities.
